Residents of Gaithersburg and the surrounding areas have the chance to receive free smoothies for a year with Tropical Smoothie Cafe’s grand opening this weekend.
The first 50 customers at the new location on Flower Hill Way will receive a “VIP card” that offers one free smoothie per week for 52 weeks at that location only. The lucky winners must have a Tropic Rewards account and the Tropical Smoothie Cafe app, according to the Tropical Smoothie Cafe website.
The grand opening weekend festivities will begin on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 8 a.m.
If you’re less of a morning person, there’s still an offer for you. Tropical Smoothie Cafe is serving up a free 24-ounce smoothie with the purchase of food or a bowl anytime this weekend. Cafe hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The smoothie and juice bar opened its Flower Hill Shopping Center location on Aug. 30 in a new shopping center. The chain has other Montgomery County locations, including Aspen Hill, Bethesda, Burtonsville, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Rockville and White Oak.
The cafe offers fresh smoothies, flatbreads, wraps, quesadillas, sandwiches and bowls. “Fan-favorite” smoothies, according to the website, include the Detox Island Green, the Sunrise Sunset — a tropical blend of strawberries, pineapple, mango and orange juice — Bahama Mama and Jetty Junior, a strawberry banana blend in a smaller, 12-ounce kids’ cup.
