Gina Osorio’s unique approach to practicality comes from her experience furnishing her apartment back when she was a 19-year-old living in Germany.
When she didn’t have the money for new paints, she mixed the paints she had and refinished furniture to make it work. “For me, it was very natural,” Osorio says.
Now, the Montgomery County interior designer brings her experience with her everywhere she goes, meeting her clients where they’re at. Sometimes that means working with an old couch for a family with a young child or taking on areas of a room rather than the entire room or home.
“The goal is, at the end of the day, it’s still functional–pretty and functional,” Osorio says.
Recently, Osorio finished a bathroom project in a Gaithersburg home. The homeowner needed an updated look for the bathroom in a new style that wouldn’t be too out-of-step with the rest of the house.
Built-In Storage
A storage alcove with a herringbone tile inlay and built-in lighting makes a glamorous and accessible spot to store the soaps, shampoos and other products that get left behind in photoshoots.
A Light for Every Mood
Another element of enlightened practicality comes from having different lights for all the uses of the bathroom. There are low lights for a relaxing soak and a brighter light for when the people using the bathroom need to see what they’re doing. The bathroom’s variety of light features include bubble lights above the vanity and recessed lighting above the shower bath and in the storage alcoves.
