Once a month, the Montgomery County Police Department, through its Vehicle Recovery Section (VRS), auctions off abandoned or seized vehicles. The VRS is charged with removing deserted, unregistered, and junk vehicles from county roads and community neighborhoods.

Any vehicle purchased must be paid for on the day of the auction and removed no later than the following day to avoid storage charges. A valid ID is necessary for admission and persons must be 18 or older to participant in the auction. Those 16 or 17 with a valid driver's license or learner's permit and accompanied by a parent or guardian may also enter the auction.

The Police Department will post a list of the vehicles offered for auction on the day of the event, starting at 7:30 a.m. Most important - all vehicles are sold as is and there aren't any refunds so buyer beware. montgomerycountymd.gov/POL/-Chief/bureaus/management/VRS.html
